Infectious diseases
Virus infection can affect anyone. Viruses can be transmitted air-bone, contact, fecal-oral route or via blood borne depending on which virus it is. Some virus is mild and one gets antibodies after an acute infection for e.g chicken pox (varicella). Some virus is associated with increase risk of cancer like hepatitis B, hepatitis C, EBV virus and HPV virus. Some virus is highly fatal like SARS and MERS. Some can cause limb deformities if contracted like polio if not vaccinated before. Certain viruses can be prevented by vaccination hence there is nationwide childhood immunization to protect young infants against certain viruses. The vaccinations available will be discussed under the vaccinations section of this webpage. Over here at this section, we will discuss the common virus infections. Should you have anything suspicious of certain disease, please consult your doctor. |
